CISSP, or Certified Information System Security Professional, is a globally recognized ISC2 (International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium) certification.

Candidates who intend to take the CISSP tests must have five years of combined full-time job experience in two or more fields specified under the ISC2 CISSP CBK. ISC2 offers a one-year waiver of technical experience if the student has a four-year college degree in the same area, its national counterpart or educational qualifications as listed in the ISC2 registry.

Applicants without the experience can undergo the examination process, but the CISSP tag will not get awarded immediately. They must be granted an ISC2 Associate qualification, and they will then receive the CISSP certificate after they have got the requisite job experience (in the next six years).
